Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Greaves, Korea; killed Nov. 16
when his military vehicle struck another military vehicle in Khaladiyah,
Iraq. Callahan, Robert
Thomas, USA Army Cpl. Bobby T. Callahan, 22, of Jamestown, N.C.; assigned to 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; died Sept. 19 of injuries sustained when his Humvee rolled over while maneuvering in Yusifiyah, Iraq.
Carrasquillo,
Jocelyn "Joce" L., USA Army Spc. Jocelyn L. Carrasquillo, 28, of
Wrightsville Beach, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 120th Infantry
Regiment, Army National Guard, Wilmington, N.C.; killed March 13 when an
improvised explosive device hit his vehicle on the main supply route in
Iraq.
Army Chief Warrant Officer 3 Mitchell K. Carver Jr., 31, of Charlotte, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 10th Aviation Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.; killed Jan. 13 when his OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopter came under attack by enemy forces using small-arms fire near Sukar, Iraq. Also killed was Chief Warrant Officer 2 Kyle E. Jackson.
Cash, Christopher
S., USA Army Capt. Christopher S. Cash, 36, of Winterville, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 120th Infantry, Army National Guard, Jacksonville, N.C.; killed June 24 when his Bradley Fighting Vehicle came under attack by small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades in Baqubah, Iraq.

Jessie A., USMC Marine Lance Cpl. Jessie A. Cassada, 19,
of Hendersonville, N.C.; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment,
2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.;
died Jan. 6 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province,
Afghanistan.
Army Staff Sgt. Darrell P. Clay, 34, of Fayetteville, N.C.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany; killed April 1 when an improvised explosive device detonated while he was conducting a dismounted patrol in Baghdad. Also killed was Sgt. Israel Devora Garcia.
Cockerham, Benny
Gray III, USMC Marine Cpl. Benny G. Cockerham III, 21, of Conover, N.C.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed Oct. 21 when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations against enemy forces near Amariyah, Iraq. His vehicle was traveling beside a canal when the attack occurred and he was thrown from the vehicle into the water. Also killed was Capt. Tyler B. Swisher.
Army Spc. Shawn R. Creighton, 21, of Windsor, N.C.; assigned to the 4th Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Fort Wainwright, Alaska; killed April 8 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Stryker vehicle during patrol operations in Rawah, Iraq.

USA Army 1st Lt. Joshua Deese, 25, of North Carolina;
assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 25th
Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; died in Balad, Iraq, Oct.
15 of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated
near his vehicle in Kirkuk, Iraq. Also killed was Sgt. Jonathan E.
Lootens. Dennie, Mike A.,
USA Army Spc. Daniel A. Desens, 20, of Jacksonville, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 120th Infantry, Army National Guard, Jacksonville, N.C.; killed June 24 when his Bradley Fighting Vehicle came under attack from small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades in Baqubah, Iraq.

N.C.; assigned to the 1132nd Military Police Company, North Carolina
Army National Guard, Rocky Mount, N.C.; died April 18 in Baghdad of
wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive
device. Marine Cpl. Christopher S. Ebert, 21, of Mooresboro, N.C.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Sept. 17 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

USMC Staff Sgt. Christopher W. Eckard, 30, of
Hickory, N.C., died Feb. 20 while supporting combat operations in
Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 8th Engineer Support
Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force,
Camp Lejeune, N.C. Edgerton, Donald R., USA Army Sgt. Donald
R. Edgerton, 33, of Murphy, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Squadron, 71st
Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light
Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; died July 10 near Char Dara, Afghanistan, of
injuries sustained when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised
explosive device. Also killed was Jesse W. Ainsworth. Edmundson,
Phillip C., USA Army Spc. Phillip C. Edmundson, 22, of Wilson, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.; killed June 1 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Bradley fighting vehicle during combat operations in Ramadi, Iraq.

USMC Marine Lance Cpl. Nathan R. Elrod, 20, of Salisbury, N.C.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed Oct. 21 while conducting combat operations in Anbar province, Iraq. Also killed were: Lance Cpl. Clifford R. Collinsworth, Lance Cpl. Nicholas J. Manoukian and Cpl. Joshua C. Watkins.

Elrod, 20, of Hope Mills, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; died Sept. 10 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries suffered from a non-combat-related vehicle rollover. Also killed were Staff Sgt. Yance T. Gray, Staff Sgt. Gregory Rivera-Santiago, Sgt. Michael C. Hardegree, Sgt. Omar L. Mora, Sgt. Nicholas J. Patterson and Spc. Ari D. Brown-Weeks.

Emolo, 33, of Greensboro, N.C.; assigned to the 5th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; died April 7 in Zaganiyah, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit. Also killed were Capt. Jonathan D. Grassbaugh, Spc. Levi K. Hoover and Pfc. Rodney L. McCandless.
