sustained from a non-combat related incident. Flynn, Paul J.,
USA Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Paul J. Flynn, 28, of Whitsett, N.C.; assigned to the 4th Squadron, 6th U.S. Air Cavalry Regiment, Fort Lewis, Wash.; died Aug. 22 in Multaka, Iraq, of injuries suffered when his helicopter crashed. Also killed were Capt. Corry P. Tyler, Sgt. Matthew L. Tallman, Spc. Rickey L. Bell, Capt. Derek A. Dobogai, Staff Sgt. Jason L. Paton, Sgt. Garrett I. McLead, Cpl. Jeremy P. Bouffard, Cpl. Phillip J. Brodnick, Cpl. Joshua S. Harmon, Cpl. Nathan C. Hubbard, Spc. Michael A. Hook, Spc. Jessy G. Pollard and Spc. Tyler R. Seideman.

USA Army Spc. Aaron M. Forbes, 24, of Oak Island, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 67th Armored Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Dec. 28 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during combat operations in Baghdad.

Garner, 30, of Elkin, North Carolina, died July 6 in Argandab District, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, Joint Multinational Readiness Center, Hohenfels, Germany.

Nicholas R., USA Army Spc. Nicholas R. Gibbs, 25, of Stokesdale, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 37th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Giessen, Germany; died Dec. 6 of injuries sustained when he came in contact with enemy forces using small arms fire while conducting observation and security operations in Ramadi, Iraq
Ginett, Adam K., USAF Air Force Tech. Sgt. Adam K. Ginett, 29,
of Knightdale, N.C.; assigned to the 31st Civil Engineer Squadron,
Aviano Air Base, Italy; died Jan. 19 near Kandahar Air Field,
Afghanistan, of wounds suffered from an improvised explosive device.

USMC Marine Lance Cpl. Cliff K. Golla, 21, of Charlotte, N.C.; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; died Sept. 1 from wounds sustained while conducting combat operations in Taqaddum, Iraq.
Grant, Sandra
S., USN Navy Seaman Sandra S. Grant , 23, of Linwood, N.C.; assigned to the aircraft carrier Eisenhower; died Dec. 31, 2006, of natural causes while on the Arabian Sea.
Green, Anthony G., USA Army Spc. Anthony G. Green, 28, of Matthews, N.C.; assigned to the 143rd Infantry Detachment, Austin, Texas; died Oct. 16 in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an IED. Also killed was Staff Sgt. Chris N. Staats.
Greene, David S.,
USMC Marine Lt. Col. David S. Greene, 39, of Raleigh, N.C.; assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 775, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Air Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif.; killed July 28 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.
Guerrera, Joseph
R., USA Army Pvt. Joseph R. Guerrera, 20, of Dunn, N.C.; assigned to C Company, 2nd Battalion, 325th Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed on patrol Oct. 26 when his vehicle was hit with an improvised explosive device in Baghdad.
Hager, Roger G., USMC Lance Cpl. Roger G. Hager, 20, of Gibsonville, N.C.;
assigned to 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine
Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; died July 8 while supporting
combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan when an improvised
explosive device detonated near his vehicle. Also killed was Master Sgt.
John E. Hayes.
HARRIS, Josh, USN Petty Officer 1st Class Joshua Harris, 36, of Lexington, N.C., died Aug. 30 from injuries sustained while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan. SO1 Harris was a Navy Seal on temporarily forward deployed from his assignment at Naval Special Warfare Development Group, Dam Neck, Va.
Hess, Kenneth D.,
USA Army Spc. Kenneth D. Hess, 26, of Asheville, N.C.; assigned to the 4th Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Fort Wainwright, Alaska; killed April 11 as the result of a suicide bomber attack while he was conducting a dismounted patrol in Rawah, Iraq.
Holden, Brian
Lee, USA Army Pfc. Brian L. Holden, 20, of Claremont, N.C.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.; died April 9 in Baghdad when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. Also killed were Spc. Ismael G. Solorio and Pvt. Brett A. Walton.
