He were assigned to the 1132nd Military Police Company, North Carolina Army National Guard, Rocky Mount, N.C. Also killed were Sgt. David B. Williams and Spc. David S. Stelmat.

Sgt. Colby Lee Richmond, 26, of Providence, N.C., died Aug. 25 of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle using an improvised explosive device in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 546th Transportation Company, 82nd Sustainment Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, N.C. Also killed was Sgt. Devin J. Daniels.
